While the idea of improving our education system seems daunting, sometimes small things can make a big difference. Give a boy a book and will read more. Give a girl a basketball and she’ll exercise more.
That’s why United Way of Cascade County hopes on Thursday, Aug. 9, you’ll join us to build a stronger community. This event has grown each year and each year we’ve expanded the organizations we partner with to deliver supplies to kids in need.
We’re happy to say this year, we’ll have three buses — in the Target and BOTH Walmart parking lots — where supplies can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
United Way of Cascade County is requesting towels, toothpaste, grocery cards, and other basic living essentials in addition to crayons and construction paper. No matter their grade or age, all students need shoes, socks and shampoo. And without those simple needs met, students are less likely to focus on achieving academic greatness.
The supplies gathered during Stuff the Bus will be distributed to organizations like Big Brothers, Big Sisters, the Boys and Girls Club, Great Falls Children’s Receiving Home, the Rescue Mission, Great Falls schools and many other United Way service partners. United Way believes education, financial stability and health are the building blocks for a successful life, which is why we’ve broken down the list of needed supplies into those categories.
